Lunch and Learn Series: Student Loan Debt and Your Workforce
Introductions:
Herb Ames, Chairman/CEO CRMCC
Gregory G. Johnson, Esq./CRMCC Member
In New Jersey, the student debt crisis is hurting our economy. The COVID-19 pandemic and the worst job market in a decade, have combined to put a strain on college grads and their families. The worsening economy and tightening job market have placed a strain on family budgets. For black and latino families, they rely more heavily on student loans to pay for college costs. Recent events have shifted employee financial wellness programs from a value-added benefit to an urgent need to address gender and racial inequality.
In today’s job market, what is the number one financial concern of employees? Student Loan Debt. It’s a $1.5 trillion dollar issue that disproportionately impacts minorities.
The Capital Region Minority Chamber of Commerce recognizes these are real issues impacting your employees today, therefore we are pleased to partner with Emeka Oguh, the CEO of PeopleJoy, to co-host a webinar on how financial wellness programs can positively impact your diverse workforce.
During the program you’ll get actionable insights into:
- Why building short-term financial stability is critical to the longer term financial well-being of your employees.
- How student debt impacts today’s workforce and what employers are doing to minimize the impact.
- How financial wellness programs can improve employee productivity, performance and retention
About the speaker: Emeka Oguh is the CEO of PeopleJoy, where he is currently developing solutions to address the student debt crisis. Emeka serves on the Board of Trustees for the quantitative Alpha Architect ETF funds and holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical & Computer Engineering from Rutgers University and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
